Course of Construction Insurance
If you’ve found the perfect spot for your dream home or perhaps you’re remodeling to open up your floor plan, it is important to understand the course of construction insurance coverage. Building a new home or remodeling an existing space comes with certain risks. Weather, theft, and vandalism are just a small part of the risk any type of construction project faces, but there is insurance coverage that may help recoup losses should your project fall victim to certain risks. Commonly referred to as Builder’s Risk Insurance, this coverage provides insurance coverage for a building or home as it is being built or remodeled. This type of coverage can also extend to the materials being used during construction.
Course of Construction policies are typically written in three-month, six-month, or 12-month coverage periods with a limited option to extend coverage for longer if necessary. Coverage limits may be determined based on the size, scope, and budget of the project.
